Sherlockian Heraldry consists of 221 coats of arms that pertain to people and families mentioned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in the Sherlock Holmes stories. A specialist in heraldry, John Brousch has created arms for those who have no arms.
He gives Holmes a crest with “a lion rampant” (with the motto “Just and firm of purpose”). Dr. John H. Watson’s motto is “fidelity is my glory.” Some notable arms like those of Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales are included along with the newly minted ones, so the symbolic number of 221 is attained.
