Stephen Leacock: Humorist and Humanist
Ralph L. Curry

This is a revised, expanded, and illustrated edition of Stephen Leacock, the first (and many believe best) biography ever written about the Sage of Mariposa. Ralph L. Curry was a professor of English at the University of Kentucky when chance took him to Orillia. In 1957 he began a twenty-three year stint as curator of the Leacock Memorial Home.

His study of Leacock, a highly readable work of scholarship and appreciation, appeared in 1959. The text of the first edition is reprinted here along with much new material, including a summing up by Dr. Curry, an afterward by James A. "Pete" McGarvey, and an appreciation by the author’s widow Gwen Curry. Also included is an eight-page section of formal and informal photographs of Leacock taken by Yousuf Karsh in 1941.
